Keep Your Shrubs and Trees Trimmed and Tidy
Lawnpro provides pruning and removal services for shrubs and trees. We can also haul the debris away from your property. Just let us know and we will add disposal to your service for a small fee! Since we are a maintenance company, we do not provide the initial installation of shrubs and trees.
Pruning Shrubs
Pruning is a great way to rejuvenate and promote a thicker plant. We can prune all season long depending on the species and condition of the plant. You should consider pruning your plants because it:
- Promotes new growth and bud development
- Controls the plant size, shape and growth (a plant’s natural form is best)
- Maintains evergreens to be well proportioned and dense
- Increases the aesthetics of your property
- Removes dead branches injured by disease, insect infestation, animals, or storms
Pruning lilacs
Pruning your lilacs is essential for healthy growth and blooming. A lilac should be pruned every year. This has to be done immediately after they are finished blooming. Lilacs set next year’s flowering buds almost immediately. So late pruning means sacrificing next year’s flowers.
Removing shrubs
Remove dead, diseased, or insect infected shrubs to prevent it from spreading to other plants on your property.
Pruning Trees
We can prune all season long depending on the species, condition of the tree and if it’s less than 20’ high. Prune first for safety, next for health, and finally for aesthetics.
Pruning for safety
- Removing branches that could fall and cause injury or property damage
- Trimming branches that interfere with lines of sight on streets or driveways
- Removing branches that grow into utility lines
Safety pruning can be largely avoided by carefully choosing species that will not grow beyond the space available to them, and have strength and form characteristics that are suited to the site
Pruning for health
- Removing diseased or insect-infested wood
- Thinning the crown to increase airflow and reduce some pest problems
- Removing crossing and rubbing branches
Pruning can best be used to encourage trees to develop a strong structure and reduce the likelihood of damage during severe weather
- Removing broken or damaged limbs encourages wound closure
- Pruning for aesthetics
- Enhancing the natural form and character of trees or stimulating flower production
- Pruning for form can be especially important for open-grown trees that do very little self-pruning
To reduce the need for pruning it is best to consider a tree’s natural form. It is very difficult to impose an unnatural form on a tree without a commitment to constant maintenance
Removing trees
We can remove a tree if it is less than 20’ high. When a tree develops problems, it is difficult to decide when to remove it. Trees with obvious defects can become problems, because they can fall and cause property damage or human injury. Examples of obvious defects include:
- Dead tree limb
- Unseasonable lack of leaves
- Visible decay
- Hole or crack in the trunk
- Tree leaning dangerously to one side
